CHICAGO - Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez is set to become the first sitting state’s attorney to lead the Chicago Bar Association.

Alvarez will be sworn in as president of the Chicago Bar Association at the group’s annual meeting.

She’s also the first Hispanic female president of the bar association.

She’s been an active member of the association for many years and most recently served as first vice president.

The Chicago Bar Association was founded in 1874. As one of the largest bar associations in the country, it has a membership of more than 22,000 attorneys and judges throughout Illinois.
